The obnoxious no bed syndrome in the various government hospitals continues unabated, with patients lying on the bare floor at the various wards to receive medical attention.
In a recent viral video intercepted by GhanaWeb, a nursing mother who just delivered is seen with her baby on the floor receiving medical attention at the Manhyia government hospital in Kumasi.
This, according to the narration of the one filming is due to the lack of beds in the hospital.
The two-minutes-eight-seconds video starts by showing what looks like a congested hospital ward and the corridor of a hospital ward with clothes of patients laid on the floor with some patients receiving IV fluids from the nurses at the hospital.
“This is very serious, patients lying on the bare floor, no mattress, nothing to receive health. Modern Ghana; this is so serious. Mother and baby on the floor; bare floor no mattress. Newborn baby. Day zero on the floor. This is serious," the narrator says.
“Modern day Ghanaian healthcare, something has to be done. Newborn baby and the mom on the bare floor; this is so bad, no mattresses. Someone lying on a bench; on a table. Modern day Ghana healthcare system: something has to be done. This is Manhyia Government Hospital right here in Kumasi. This is bad.”
