It was a work of journalism, in the form of a documentary, that shook the very foundation of Ghana football.

Over 70 referees were caught taking bribes on tape. The biggest headline was for then Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi, who was filmed accepting money for favours.

Some say it was sterling, but others maintain it was a hatchet job plotted and executed with the aim of felling the powerful Nyantakyi.

What is not in doubt is just how much this work affected Ghana football.

Domestic competitions were suspended, leaving hundreds of footballers across the country stranded due to inactivity.

Football clubs suddenly became white elephants for a time, as they kept taking care of the needs of these players, but got nothing in return.

In the time since, court actions and soul searching has rent the fabric of Ghana football, even more than before.
