A total of 18 suspected cases of Ebola have been reported in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The World Health Organization,WHO, however said there have been two confirmed cases and three deaths.

The dead include a 39-year-old man identified as "patient zero" in preliminary investigations, and two others who had close contact with him.

It added that its risk assessment was high at national, medium at regional and low at international levels.

WHO declared an Ebola outbreak in DR Congo last week.

More than eleven thousand people died in the outbreak in West Africa in 2014-2015, mainly in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia.
