President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is calling for concerted efforts in dealing with the root cause of conflict on the African continent.

He said traditional challenges to Security such as chieftaincy, conflicts, armed robbery are been compounded with contemporary threats such as drug abuse and warned this can undermine efforts in creating a progressive, prosperous and peaceful continent.

President Akufo-Addo was speaking at the graduation and inauguration of Goodwill Ambassadors at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping and Training Centre.

The Goodwill Ambassadors also called Fellows of the Centre are former Chief Adviser to the President of Ghana, Dr Mary Chinery-Hesse, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General for Africa and the Sahel, Dr Mohammed Ibn Chambas, Former Secretary General of Many River Union Secretariat, Dr Hadja Daraba Kaba, Ellen Margrethe, first Perfect of the Dicastery for promoting integral Human Development, Vatican City, Cardinal Peter Turkson, and Ken Ofori Atta.

They are to support the Centre in its strategic thinking and resource mobilisation from the corporate and other international funding sources.

The Ambassadors renowned for their work and commitment to African Peace and security, they will provide advisory support to the Commandant, and will be meet bi annually to offer strategic advice related to the positioning of the continental policy dialogue and international discourse on conflict prevention, peacekeeping and post conflict reconstruction.

President Akufo-Addo said the long-term financial sustainability of the Centre is dear to government.

He said government will support KAIPTC to complete its training and academic programmes to meet expected demands.

He asked institutions of higher learning such as the Centre to support government transformational agenda.

In all, seventy seven graduated with Master of Arts in Conflict, Peace and Security, Master of Arts, Gender Peace and Security, Executive Master of Arts in Conflict, Peace and Security.
